Perhaps Ecomodders drive closer to the speed limit than the average driver (but not towards stops!), so I am fully in favor of more strictly enforcing laws. Too many citations and you lose your license. Drive without a license and you go to jail.

Of course, people who speed claim those who do not are the dangerous ones...

Sounds like a saying in the sailing world: there's no such thing as a "free sailboat".

According to the shop guys, adding the 5-new battery sticks was not enough to satisfy Honda's standards for voltage in the main pack.I'll need to replace it and then the hybrid function will be enabled.Right now it's just a 3-cyl ICE car.
I joined the local Teacher's Credit Union and I'll be able to get a 3% loan to buy the pack, paying it out over time while adding to my savings while I make payments.
For now,it's concentrate on getting ready for DARKO and a 5,500-mile road trip.

Sounds to me like a grid charger discharged along with knowing how to quickly enable ice only mode would make it a drive anywhere car

I got used to driving mine without the IMA functions, and it actually ran a lot smoother on the highway when I wasn't having to adjust for the lean buen purges all the time. It didn't even drop much off the mpg, although it was pretty gutless

It's nice having the AC work again now, though

On level road she's great, but the slightest uphill grade requires down-shifting.

The best way to drive an insight is to think like an automatic ... you wanna move faster, downshift, you wanna pass, downshift ... its the only way I can get any decent mpg, with or without IMA.
The biggest thing with IMA is to use it it 1st and maybe 2nd gear then forget it exists for extra power, downshift for power, stay away from IMA boost and your battery will last a lot longer.
