This might be considered a drag reduction maximum for front wheel enclosure.Don't know. There's so little empirical data for such things.
It's a sure bet though, that the rectilinear flow on AeroCivic is going to produce about the best sink flow we could imagine. Not only is all the pick and shovel streamlining accomplished, basjoos has worked down into the macro-flow environment.
And it tells at the gas pump.
It's the gold standard so far as I've seen!
Just curious...do you refer to the 1983 Ford Probe IV concept car?

Or the 1985 Ford Probe V concept car?

Not that it makes much difference...

The Probe V was lower drag, I think?

Phil, I have asked this once before on a more dedicated thread to this car, but can you speak more in depth about how it is that the Probe iv can attain such a good Cd with such steep and rounded edges at the rear of the car ?
The car seems to be designed backwards !

Streamlined Tatra car in action

this is short advertisment movie for tatra 603 filmed in early 60's. Slightly off topic, but, being patriot and Tatra fan, I couldn´t help myself.

No movie tricks, Tatra was driven by factory test driver.

Only in Czech, sorry :-(

P.S. For you without patience: .

Btw: the sign means "godspeed" ;-]

Thumbs up

I love the prototype that Neil posted above.
I also think that solar panels should be incorporated into the roof of any new project EV or car for that matter.

I think the Probe IV was Cd 0.154.Hucho says this is an easy number to achieve with much latitude in form.
The IV was essentially non-aspirated in front with boundary layer control on the sides with the cooling sys./AC inlets and wake-ducted outlets (that's cheating!).
The IV also used active suspension to not only lower the car,but also modify the rake (also cheating),both of which would violate all SAE approach, ramp, and breakover clearances.
If we cheat like Ford did we could benefit as well.
At Cd 0.154 there's still fruit on the tree.As we move closer to Jaray's pumpkin seed of 1921 we approach the finish line.

Hucho says, that to go lower, you've got to extend the car closer to the 5:1 L/H ratio which is what they did with Probe V.(this car is almost double-ended).

Nice video, it helps not to have side mirrors projecting out when going through those old narrow streets.

A very handsome woman passenger too, of course Czech women are known for their beauty.
