The invisible bike helmet

Seems so obvious:
Dangerous Minds | At long last, the invisible bike helmet is here

Interesting... they cut the video just before the point I wanted to see... the "forehead plant" on the pavement.

So instead of a "mushroom on the head", they're thinking the "neck brace" will be more comfortable while riding? I'll take the "mushroom on the head".

Does the same person edit/produce 100% of all "fancy new product" videos?

Because this is exactly the same as every other "LOOK AT THIS NEW THING WE ARE BUILDING" kickstarter-like video, and the "reveal" is a huge letdown.

Regardless of the idea, I find everything about it annoying and therefore will continue to just take my chances with no helmet in everyday casual rides and a normal big helmet when riding South Mountain.

We'll look pretty funny in the warm months, riding in a short sleeved shirt with a big, fat wooly collar around our necks. Must be kinda heavy too.

...and, instead of "...lowering your ears (ie: haircut)" with that you'd get a "...raising o'the ears (neck stretching)."

The video sucked, but I like the idea. Little too pricey for me though. I don't know if it deflates like an airbag though, so it might rebound into whiplash land, which is still better than a cracked skull.

I've seen this sort of inflatable helmet before - and quite a while ago too.
Hopefully for them it was their initial idea - they've been working on it for years.

As for the face-plant : the airbag will only marginally protect against that , but that's also the kind of bump you generally brace for with your arms (the dummy won't use his arms though).

When I saw the title of this thread, my mind wandered...

In 2006, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was nearly killed when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into some lady's fender, and said QB kissed the hood. Although he wears a helmet for a living, he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The next day, this listing went on eBay: http://www.superunknown.com/docs/benhelmet.pdf
