It's 2010 - Where's my #%@ spaceship ??

Has anyone else felt a little let down by where car styling has gone in the last few decades ?

When I was a kid, this is what I thought we would be driving around in :

What happened ? Why has this become our present 'future' ?

( And .... where are those spaceships we are supposed to have by now ?? )

The Arabs stole all the areo plans, so that they could sell you more oil at higher and higher prices. The also infiltrated all the design departments of the US manufactors

I'm just as disapointed as you - why did we buy all these brick on wheels in the first place...

They said many things would happen by this century. We were suppose to have our own flying cars in 2000. Jalopnik made a good point in why we have these bricks for cars. We can trace it back to John Delorean when he worked for GM: Did The 1964 Pontiac GTO Lead To GM's Downfall? - Murilee Rant - Jalopnik

GM had a vice-grip, and was the standard for cars until the V-8 and "large cars" mentality had its killer grip on the auto industry. What would it be like if the V-8 and "big car" mentality didnt stick? EV-1 in 1989? Hydrogen cars ready for 2012 production? Gasoline cars only exist in junkyards?

Hello -

Maybe you lost it ...

"Dark Star", short film script, by John Carpenter & Dan O'Bannon
Code:
                                   TALBY
                    Doolittle, Doolittle, where are you?

                                   DOOLITTLE
                    Here I am. I think I'm spinning...
                    We're both falling, Talby, in
                    opposite directions, away from each
other. My -- my jetpack's gone.
Dark Star (1974)

Here ya go.

Future Horizons inc: Hoverboards

"High Performance Hovercraft Technology" in the description actually means: "You've got a 6HP leaf blower strapped to your feet."
