Early in the throttle stop testing discussion thread, a Prius owner did try it and could not get it to work. Something about both the drive by wire throttle and the synergy drive power train, IIRC...

Sure, if I were going to make some experience with a Prius drivetrain, my choice would be something compact, even though I was considering a sand-rail buggy. But anyway, the early Jeeps (up to the CJ-3B) would be an interesting base for such a project, even though I would consider a rear-engined approach similar to those "Veep" conversions or the Gurgel X-12.

what exactly is this?

i actually shifted my Tahoe in to neutral before the coasting was quite impressive i just tested a couple of miles doing it and just doing that for a couple of miles it reported 45MPG on the average for those 2 miles...
while in neutral the RPM dropped to 600rpm and went to normal and smooth translation to 1100rpm when i shifted back to gear

(regeneration was still working according to the information screen did not notice any speed loss because of it)
I was monitoring the transmission temp and it was pretty stable at 140F-142F

It has come up at least three times on this forum since 2008, most significantly by Julian this year. I wrote up my version a few weeks ago (with pictures):

Throttle-stop reminds me of engine-braking, which may be uneffective on hybrids as the ICE is disabled during braking. But the electric motor(s) can provide a similar effect while operating as a generator during regenerative braking.
