mirror

I just re-discovered this thread. I am anxious to get to my home computer so I can bring up the pics.

In some of my bike races, I've noticed recumbent riders using a mirror strapped to the back of their left hand. That would be light weight and really easy to adjust.

that's a good idea, then it can be turned out of the wind stream when not needed.

I finally put a coat of metallic silver paint on it friday, and will put another coat on when the weather gets warm and sunny late in the week. It doesn't take much silver to cover up grey primer .

I'll try getting some pics of it as soon as I find it's "good side" . I'm not good at painting stuff. I'll try getting the 2nd coat on today or tomorrow and maybe it will be picture worthy.

That is a bunch of views this thread is getting .

I also noticed when getting ready to reinstall the crank bearings that quite a bit of metal shavings found thier way into the old grease. Last year I should have blown out all the tubes better that connect to the crank housing after fabricating the frame and before installing the crank. I cleaned and regreased them and hopefully all the shavings are done migrating to that area.

Metal shavings: meh, bikes are tough.

The silver looks sleek. Nice.

Must be true. The bearings and races didn't seem to show any problems after riding all of last summer with that grease. I don't remember any crunchiness while pedaling either, so the grease must have suspended the shavings out of the way.
