While he doesn't have access to the fancy test equipment, BITOG also tested this with similar results:
Air Filtration Test

Apologies BaldLobo. I didn't actually read through the link you provided and jumped to the wrong conclusions...

I tend to wander OT.

And I was kidding about Jeep owners being idiots, as I have a Jeep Liberty.

After having a fresh out of the box k&n murder a $300 MAF sensor and witnessing what they would let into the intake tract of my ATV I wouldn't run one on a shop vac.

This thread has convinced me to pull the K&N from Lafawnda (the Honda) when I go to gap the valve clearances. Back to paper I go.

The silicone levels in my used oil analysis on the CTS-V had about 35% less than the running average at Black Stone Labs. I run a Spectre cone filter which is the knock off K&N. Individual results may vary I suppose. The AMSOil air filters are the way to go if you want a lifetime product.

I rarely replace paper filters. When they start to gunk up, I clean them with a shop vac and air sprayer.

It doesn't seem necessary to replace paper filters when they clean up so easily.
