To the best of my knowledge the cooler gets rid of the moisture in the air. I still fail to see the contribution of the heater core to cool or dehumidify the air.

Years ago on my Neon I installed 5% tint on the back windows, 50% on the front side windows (legal), and always used a reflective shade in the windshield when I parked. I also bypassed the heater core during the summer. The car was much much more pleasant to drive.

I always wanted to fit a 4 hose bypass valve off a Jeep or Explorer and maybe use a cable to move it instead of vacuum but I never did it.

Imports will use a divert valve most of the time.
My Proton and Jeep don't have diverter valves - the Renault and Fiat have too much underhood plastic for me to see without dismantling. The Jeep in particular I've noticed a plasticy smell after a couple hours of driving - over time that's got to be bad for the heater box.

I found a block off valve for $15 -that can go in the Proton, and a nice all metal four way bypass for a bit more - that will go in the Jeep.

I'll get some before and after vent temps when I'm done.

Maybe you've forgotten this is EM? More water= more mass of water to warm up. Most of us run grill blocks year round and still have trouble getting up to temp. My Thermostats never fully open (except on the Jeep of course, 4.0's run hot).
