Last year for Chevy Bolt!

We'll I guess my next vehicle won't be a Bolt, at least not a new one.

I wonder if this means that the future for cheaper electric cars is still far off into the future.

Chevy: "Why buy a Bolt when you can buy a Silverado EV?"
Me: "Money."

EUV is still around. The the Model Y of the Chevy Bolt.

Speaking of the Y, there was a major price reduction AND it qualifies for the full federal tax subsidy. That brings a base model into the ~$39k range.

Still more than I want to spend on a vehicle, but getting closer to what I might be willing to spend.

...wonder what used Sparks are going for these days? I was getting tempted back when you might find one around $9k.

The Bolt is 7 years old on the same platform, so it was time to either retire it, or make a Bolt 2.0.

Nope. The Bolt EUV is getting slashed too. No Bolt and no Bolt EUV after 2023.

Hopefully Tesla will continue to drop prices.

I just noticed the future Chevy Equinox EV is supposed to start around $30,000.

Are they playing that game where the quote the subsidized price, or is that a real MSRP?

Equinox EV for ~$24k sounds like a price I might be willing to pay. The Bolt was down that low without subsidy back in 2020.

I don't know. I just noticed on the Chevrolet website for the Equinox EV that it says "Estimated MSRP Starting Around: $30,000† on 1LT". The note on the $30,000 only explains what an MSRP is.

I hope that the federal tax credit is available to all as a direct credit to the seller. Add to that any Colorado tax credit and I may want to buy one too.

From what I understand, the credit is just like the old one where you have to have $7,500 in tax liability for the year you make the purchase.

The 2 tricks I know for those who don't have that tax liability is to have your parents buy it (if they have enough tax liability) and simply reimburse them.

The other trick is to convert an IRA into a Roth, increasing your tax liability for that year.

Good tricks. If only I had parents or an IRA then I'd be set.

But yes, I don't think the liability part of the tax credit will have changed, although some think it will.

Chat GPT 2.0, I'm guessing?

Factually incorrect.

I always let those first posts marinate, and let someone else respond. I also mass delete email notifications (I keep them on so my mailbox doesn't gather dust and cobwebs) but I noticed this one:

Dear freebeard,

josephpaul has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - The Sunbeam Tiger - in the Success Stories forum of EcoModder.com.

This thread is located at:
https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthre...-new-post.html

Here is the message that has just been posted:
***************
The Rootes Group (and its successor, Chrysler Europe) built the Sunbeam Tiger, a British two-seat convertible sports automobile, from 1964 to 1967. It shares its platform with the Sunbeam Alpine roadster produced by the Rootes Group, but its power comes from a Ford V8. The Sunbeam Tiger was the only vehicle available with a combination of a Ford V8 engine and the British Sunbeam Alpine's chassis and running gear. From 1964–1967, they made the Mark I series, and from 1967–1968, they made the Mark II series. Both models used Ford V8 engines, although the Mark I had a 260 cu in (4.3 L) unit while the Mark II had a 289 cu in (4.7 L) unit.

There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.

All the best,

So out of curriousity I went to Success Stories and found the thread from 2020..*

No posts since then, today. The mods move in mysterious ways. Last pic in that thread:

Note the gang sign with the left hand.

* Doh! There was a link in the email.
