* I might argue about the 'rationality' of people on the whole.
* I don't see 'sacrifice' necessarily on the menu. I think that people will continue to basically do all the things they like to do, they'll just do it with different stuff.
* I don't know any Christians that are that anxious to get into Heaven, so, death may be a hard sell.
* I think that real 'wealth' will increase.
* And with measurable benefits.

Awesome! Moon Power is on the table.
What's needed is concurrent application of direct carbon capture; from the oceans not the atmosphere, and in bio-char. Massive, widespread bio-char.

This sounds just like Scott Adams (arationality and the Golden Age) and by extension Dale Carnegie.

If we were to ignore the atmosphere, we'd only see additional non-linear amplification of most feedback loops, pushing us closer to the irreversible tipping points.
Oceanic 'carbon' is what was responsible for some of the past mass extinction events. There are nodules of frozen methane clathrate lying on the floor of the continental shelves, which out-gas methane directly into the atmosphere.
Every kilogram of methane is equal to twenty-seven kilos of carbon dioxide.
Permafrost melt would accelerate with microbes eating a rich paleo salad, releasing vast quantities of CO2.
Poles would warm more, exposing more water, absorbing more solar energy.
Warming begets warming. Low albedo begets lower albedo. A vicious cycle.
Quite literally, playing with fire.

IDK how to get from CO 2 to calthrates. The oceans have staved off our demise:

It would be way out ahead of nothin'!
We're putting 300-billion into the atmosphere, of which a portion would go into the ocean.
As ocean water warms, it loses carbon-dioxide solubility, and loses ability as a carbon 'sink' the warmer it gets.
It also turns into carbonic acid, making it harder for shellfish and crustaceans to form shells and exoskeletons.
At 'Minerva's Castle, in Yellowstone National Park you can see this playing backwards, as dissolved calcium carbonate, carbonic ' volcanic' water emerges, evaporates, and leaves behind the dissolved solids to form the 'castle.' Kinda like stalactites do in a cave.

Nothing is not an option. Imagine if everyone were still driving 1950s era automobiles. Houses with 1950s insulation.
Where the Youtube video recommends grinding the limestone up and dumping it in the ocean, Wolf Hilbertz suggested Marine Electrodeposition to fabrticate building modules to be used in situ or hoisted onto dry land.

Wolf Hartmut Hilbertz was a German-born futurist architect, inventor, and marine scientist. Notable contributions to science include the discovery of artificial mineral accretetion / biorock and its use to create electrified reefs.

I believe there are tanks of brine in Old Town Newport, OR, that would be perfect for experimentation.

already 100-F here, and a month early.
We're already hitting triple digit heat index because of latent heat. Abilene was an actual 106-F yesterday. Our 'swamp' air adds about an extra 6-degrees feel to the dry-bulb temp.
The next 10-days will be 'near-record' or 'record' temps.
Typically, it would be 'mild' right now, and electric providers would be taking plants offline for scheduled annual maintenance. Not going to happen now.
India's inside an estimated, 600-day, 120-F heat wave, which started in March. Compared to 413-days last time. Millions there have no electricity.
Glad to have my massive 5,500-Btu home unit.

Well................when you put it like that, I suppose, Oregon's hands-down the winner for 'humidity'!
