Yes it's a cool looking car, unfortunately when a car company does up an "Aero Style Concept" car they always go for ground effects and glitz. Sometimes that can translate into lower CdA but most of the time the effort is just wasted as far as ecomodders are concerned.

Question for the group; "can we do better?"

Less wind noise is reported from the mirrors... so probably aero +:

Agree on wheel skirts... but I think most consumers see them as '50s retro.

The undertray/belly pan is essentially flat:
good to know, I thought there must be a functional reason for the headlamps being that way, and now I know

absolutely, but to do better *and* make it consumer friendly to those who arent into serious ecomodding... that would be the trick !

Ha ha, I agree. I think it should be used as a delivery vehicle by a cajun-catfish restaurant and "dressed" appropriately.

The more I look at the catfish, I think you could make a decent car design out of it. The hood merges with the windshield quite nicely.

The battery is passively cooled on the LEAF. A bit of air can flow around the battery, but it is otherwise sealed.

The grill is for HVAC and motor/PEM cooling.

The LEAF is not very aerodynamic and could be a lot better with a few tweaks.

LEAF concept CD?

The LEAF NISMO race car was credited with Cd 0.25

Has anyone thrown around any numbers for the new concept?

I much prefer the Renault Eolab at Cd 0.235 in it "base" mode, and 0.227 with its three active elements deployed.
