Well the results are in, almost a full 1 mile more per KWH in my Nissan Leaf. Up from an average of 3.9 to 4.8 M/Kwh.
This was achieved by deleting the mud flaps, flipping the mudflaps from side to side and reattaching them in front of the wheels to aeromod and deflect the wind off the cheek of the tires. Along with a partial grille block and licence plate relocation. We placed the licence over the inlet left in the aerodynamic grill block, this serves to shed the wind more cleanly and block direct entrance of particles, bugs, rain ect directly into the grill and radiators.
These simple improvements to the aerodynamics of the nissan leaf have added 20% in efficiency and range!

If it holds up under further testing, that's amazing. Do you have pictures? I'm not sure if your talking about the front or rear wheels.
Also, I looked back to the first page. You can assess whether the concept was lower by drawing the bottom door edge forward to the bottom lugnut in both cases.

+1, would love to see pics of your grill block and reversed mud flaps.
20% improvement is huge! Even if this was only 5-10% gain I imagine a large number of LEAF owners would love this amount of range increase. Coupled with aero wheels it should be even better.
I wish that Nissan had used active grill shutters on the LEAF, it seems like it could have significantly improved highway range at very little cost. I wonder how much grill blocking one can get away with with the A/C running and 100F ambient temperatures.

It is a shame that pics cannot be embedded directly into our posts, what is the easiest way of sharing images?
The grill block is partial, about the size of a licence plate is left open. The licence plate is relocated to cover the open grill spaced a couple inches forward. This helps with the northwest road spray and grime in the belly pan.
Speaking of the belly pan, there are several areas that would benefit from Velcro on spandex.
We have wheel discs to soon be installed...

Thanks for the pics. I would love to know how you tested the mods and if the changes are reproducible.

I wonder what the lifespan of Leaf is, like what batteries Last, replaceability, do you need original cells etc. And is Leaf using any common wear-out parts i can get after 10-15 years or so.
