Try it without the defroster on, floor vents only. In my ZX2, whenever the a/c compressor runs (like in defrost mode), the engine cooling fan came on. I disconnected the wire to the compressor and it still did it. I pulled the a/c fuse and now it only comes on when it gets hot enough.

how to turn off the condenser fan

I'd like to turn the condenser fan off, as I don't ever use the a/c. The #17 7.5a fuse on the civic runs both the a/c, and power mirror #1 which I'd rather not turn off as it doesn't have a manual control. Is it okay to remove the condensor fan relay and the a/c compressor clutch relay?

Simply unplug the relay and tape the connector closed (to keep water out).

Thanks. I've removed both relays. By connector, do you mean to tape the sockets?

Yes, sorry, I should have been more specific: "connector sockets"

Aha, I was checking the wrong fuse. The correct one is #56 in the relay box by the battery. I've pulled the fuse and put the relays back in.

connecting led light to the fan

How did you connect the leads to the fan? The wires connect to my fan with a clip, and there's no place to connect to them, unless I splice to the wires. The wire would probably break in the clip.

I've wanted to do this mod for some time, but...

I can tell when my cooling fan turns on because the temp on my UltraGauge will go from 215 F down to 195 F in a hurry, and then slowly start creeping back up again. I also have an alarm set that warns me when I go above 209 F.

At least 1 fan runs all of the time when I have the AC on. This also keeps the coolant temps well below the 215 F threshold when both fans kick on high.
