I bought up some 12v 10w "warm white" 3000-3500K color LED chips.
If you search "12v 10w warm white LED" on ebay you cant miss them.
See if I can build a set of kind to other drivers low beam head lights.
If I cant make them, aim them or partially cover them and make them easier on the eyes than most peoples factory headlights then plan B will be to make some stupid bright 20-30W (per head light) LED highbeams.

found this one super cheap

Our Most Powerful LED - 10 Watt Cool White 900 Lumen-Electronic Goldmine

the color index is quite high but the intensity is enough for a high beam unit.
I just thought I would dump it here for all the other techno geeks out there.

....but, does it require cryogenic cooling in order to achieve a reasonable use-life?

yes heat sink is recomended.

I have had fair results using 2" x 3" 18 gage sheet metal base as sink.

I'm waiting for a friend to get a set of these LED bulb replaceemnts and drivers... $115 is getting closer to affordable. Olympus Offroad

I recently picked up some 18w 1800 lumen 30* spot LED lamps, for the my Jeep and to put in the foglight locations on my Neon.

At about 20' and about 4' off the ground. These might be too bright for low beam use on the street though.

And just for informational purposes, the 6" lights in the first pic can fit slim digital ballasts for HIDs in the housing behind the lens. I've seen it done, and will likely do it to a pair as well. Offroad only, or, really dark deserted, no oncoming traffic in sight highways. The 6" lights are available at Harbor Freight for about $10 each and take a H3 bulb.
