Lock-out hubs

Back in the "old days", 4WD vehicles used to be equipped with lock-out hubs so that you could lock out the front 4WD and "convert" the vehicle to rear-wheel drive only, thus saving gas mileage and wear and tear on the front drive system. But today, most of the modern crossover SUVs don't have this option. I have a 4WD Toyota Highlander and I'm wondering if anyone could make a set of lock-out hubs for me? What do you think?

Do a Google search for "Highlander manual hub conversion" and I think you'll find what you're looking for.

Most manufacturers did away with locking hubs for 4x4s for ease of maintenance. Unit bearings don't require frequent service or adjustments. Is your Highlander really 4x4 or is it AWD?
