Long time, first time

My name is IVTenvy and I live in Grover Beach, CA. I drive a 1994 Ford Aspire 4 door hatch back because I am cheeeeeeeeeeeeeap. I intend to squeeze every mile I can out of it for fiscal purposes only. My wife is driving a 2001 Kia Sportage and I am here to learn what I can do to make it more efficient and practical. Living on the central coast of CA, I have permanent sunshine and temps 60-80 F. My philosophy in engineering testing is to start with the best ROI first. I am an Aircraft Maintenance Technician by trade and I hope to share some tribal knowledge in aerodynamic fairing construction and weight and balance technique.

Thanks for your contributions to saving conscious people money.
ps: My name reflects my dream of finding the holy grail of drive trains, a practical infinitely variable transmission.

Welcome.

So your main goal is your wife's vehicle... is she on board with this money saving business?? Sounds like she might not be, given the vehicle choice.

If she is on board, first goal (assuming immediately trading for a more cost efficient vehicle isn't an option!) should be adjusting the nut behind the wheel. She needs instant feedback to start tracking her results (playing the "beat the high score" game). That means a resettable average & instant MPG gauge.

If she isn't on board, good luck! (What's that saying about horses & water?)
