Lurker, now a poster!

Hello,

Just wanted to say a quick hello- have visited the forum a couple of times and now have a 96 Civic HX I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions about!
One thing I will say is I'm surprised how much I enjoy the challenge of driving efficiently, I've been a gearhead for a long time but it was always focused on turning more fuel in to HP! And I've only had the car for 4 days now!
I do a lot of driving for work so I wanted something that would save me money on gas and lower the impact from all the driving that I do. So far, so good!

Trying to get a signature going- 1/2 tank so far woohoo!
Why does 39 sound so much lower than 40.

Welcome to EM! The Honda HX is a great model. I wish they had kept it in the lineup.

I believe the HX model was available up until 2005 or 06, but yes, it's gone now.

Welcome aboard 96HX!

Do you have the CVT or 5 speed model HX?

If you do have the CVT model, could you tell me at which RPM the transmission holds the motor at for normal takeoffs and cruising?

I wasn't even aware of how the HX was different from the other models or even what VTEC-E was until I started doing some research about two months ago. As I was looking for an affordable, high mpg commuter that was reasonably comfortable as well it was hands down one of the best choices out there.

Sorry, I have a 5 speed, as I'm allergic to small-engined cars with automatics (although CVT is a better choice).

You actually got the better end of the deal with the 5 speed. Tehy are more robust than their CVT counterpart and much less expensive to repair/maintain.

I agree. I fear the day when CVT is more efficient than manual, but that day isn't here yet. I'm also allergic to automatics.
