??! Magnetic field on (18650 lithium-ion) batteries improves them!?

I was looking at MHD (Magneto HydroDynamic) drives, so it occurred to me to look at what effect a magnetic field had on batteries.
True as nuts; it improves them!

So basically + N; - S to improve them.
I have no practical idea how strong an XYZ Tesla field is or how big and heavy a magnet/s is required to get a noticeable effect but doubt lugging a magnet and cell sandwich around is worth it?
Perhaps thin coin shaped magnets of the right diameter is a great way to stick all those button cells together in a series cylinder..?

This may help for charging and stationary batteries however?
Perhaps simply aligning your charging pack with the earths magnetic field will help a smidge? Cant hurt.

Or; align your conveyance's cells horizontally and only ever go North. Don't come back!

I could get a hundred feet of #00 welding wire and build a coil around my pack since I use series wound DC. Not difficult to determine polarity to current flow, RIGHT HAND RULE. Really doubt it would make any practicable difference even measuring 3places aft the decimal on my volt/current meters.

No idea Piotrsko. I just scanned the paper and thought: "That's interesting"
So lets have a look:

"...discharge capacity is found to be 2.46 Ah when the battery is not placed in the magnetic field...
When the magnetic induction intensity increases to 39.50 mT, the discharge capacity is 2.89 Ah, which increases by 17.48%..."

I assume mT is micro Tesla (1000 mT per T)
A small NIB magnet 0.2 Tesla or 200mT.

So ye is doable and no need to waste power on wound magnets.|
In fact; it's more interesting than I thought! How often is it easy to get a 17% improvement nowadays!?
They talk of an increase in both power and energy density.
So its starting to look more than interesting; It looks worthwhile!?

There was another study or something where the researchers were carrying on about magnets built into the terminals. I really wasn't paying attention to the numbers. Just thought it interesting.

One cant help wondering what effect a MF has on other batteries too..?

I NB the MHD effect previously linked and documented increases in gas production from electrolysis, but here we are talking about a MF parallel to the electric field.
Also; getting your 'left hand rule' out too for + oins trying to flow in the opposite direction.
Trying to picture all that in motion can do your head in (Unless you're Nicola Tesla) and is beyond the scope of this forum IMHO.

Sorry, dude, most of your stuff ends up looking like clickbait lately, not to mention unicorn corral worthy.

Wound magnetic is viable on pouch packs, which i have, dont have metal jacketed cells. Yes the magnetic field re- orients the current flow so the random subparticles don't generate heat only. Do I have massive improved flow? Crap I can buy is not that accurate to tell me. Whatever

Yes it's 'out there' but the tried and tested stuff is is already discussed to death, so no point in re discussing it.
So I'm looking for the untried stuff, while keeping the power to weight ratio of the whole car in mind, as well as cost and complexity.

(I would say that copper plating piston tops and head is about the closest I have come)

My apologies for dismissing this. My feeling was: Why use electricity to create a MF if permanent magnets give you that for free.
But on re consideration I can see that a wound field is more likely to give you a strong field where you want it in the pack if you do feel like experimenting.

Do you have a link? I looked but didn't find a thread started by you on how you are using them.

But ye; at the end of the day the added weight and complexity and doubtful MF strength where you need it makes this nothing more than interesting.
An 'Interesting" I thought I'd share.

That said; experimenting is fun/educational.

(Perhaps manufacturers will take to magnetizing the outer casing or something in the future thx to the research)

I have a series DC motor so when i power along i have up to 75 kw coming out of the Battery as DC. Makes everything holding current magnetic. Tore apart the first set of cable restraints. Hundred ft of large diameter wire wound into a coil makes a massive magnet if I can restrain that and everything else magnetic

Ok so this is in your car?
Is it an EV? A home made EV? A hybrid?
Sounds extremely interesting!?

Are these "cable restraints" inside the motor, or the leads going to/from it?

As I understand magnetic 'shielding' you need a certain minimum thickness of ferrous metal around your field so the unused 'outside' field can 'concentrate' in that and not bother with going 'into the surrounding air'.
Sounds like your motor doesn't have enough of this??
