The inner CV boot makes contact with the motor shroud once per revolution. So most of the boot clears.
I may be able to change the shroud - remove the gauge metal thickness by drilling it out and just leave the rubber gasket.
If that does not work, perhaps I can remove some metal from the motor at the contact point. If the contact point is part of one of the vents, then I may be able to adjust the shroud (bend it) with a ball pien hammer (sp?)
I need to investigate the new axles to ensure that the extra space is required there as well. No use fixing a problem that will go away when the part in question is replaced!
