Member Links

I had an idea a ways back and all this talk about facebook and social media reminded me of it:

I was thinking it would be nice to link members into posts that you specifically want to see the post/thread. Adding the linked member will then alert the person (like being subscribed to a thread, or in this case 'pre-subscribed'). If a member reading the post wants to pm or see the linked person's profile for questions or threads started by them, then they can click the link. In other words it would be like clicking their avatar/profile for their info even if they haven't replied in that thread.

Example:

MetroMPG, can you tell me why XXX is happening? (Metro would see this 'event' and be able to answer -along with everybody else)

Daox started a thread about that mod, he would know best. (Daox would see the event and be able to respond with his insights)

In both cases, the underline member name would be a link to that member's profile/PM and at the same time alert that member of an 'event'.

Just a thought, might make some cases easier.

TMFP! Too many projects!! They're piling up waaay faster than I can dispatch them.

Please be patient; a proper response to this suggestion should appear in about 2015.

Xenforo! If EM ever looks at upgrading forum software, thats where to look. It's actually created by some former vBulletin employees that got sick of how vBulletin was turning out. It uses a notification system that is very intuitive. For example if you post in a thread and then another member quotes your post, you get a notification of that event. I believe it can also do as jeff88 described.
