Mercedes 4 banger.....

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG

Retail price: $47,450

Featuring the most powerful 4-banger available today, is the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG sporty midsize sedan. The 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled inline-4 engine squeezes out 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, thanks to a sky-high 26.1 pounds of boost and direct injection. The 4-cylinder propels the 3,494-pound CLA45 from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, while returning a respectable fuel economy of 23 mpg around town and 31 mpg cruising on the highway.

All that AND an AMG!!!!!!

UMmmmmmmm sounds good when i drove a 250hp turbo charged road car it was so hard to keep an even speed slight twich on load padel and hey pressto horizon is here now. gearing would be high and only just in power band to get crurising mpg. read an article writtern by david visard in late about small turbo charged engines in big cars. thirty years later is now becoming common place in europe. 1.6 petrol engines can now give a sirrea cosworth a thrashing while being easy to drive in the city. other 1.6 engines with turbos are tuned for mpg. emissons are so low that we in uk pay virtually no road tax. what will the next 30 years bring us ?

26lbs of boost on a gas engine, AND a warranty to boot? hehe awesome!

Those mpg's would be impossible for me to attain. Boost is addictive, it would be hard for me to be good xD

They have made 4 and 5 cylinder mercedes for decades, the v8 in an amg is a true experience to be had. They should apply this technology to the v8 amg configuration and leave this engine for the C class.

I sat in my friend's CLA250, the stop start is kind of rough which was a disappointment, but the power is quite good and the engine sits at the kind of rpms you'd expect on a V8 car on the highway. 2000rpm = 80+ mph. We were going on a 300 mile trip and he even commented "wow, the fuel economy is actually pretty good".

My former manager of 3 years ago has an amg something or another. I pretend to not now or remember as I love it when he let me take it for a spin. There is a real nice disconnect in the way the car feels vs the road. I had him point out I was doing 100 in a 60 mph zone. Felt like 35mph too me. Now his car gets 12 mpg and needs premium.
