108!
I heart boat tails:
That's one way: secondary highway route, cruising at/near the limit of 80 km/h / 50 mph, going through 2 small cities, with lots of engine-off coasting to stops turns, plus speed zones through multiple small towns.
(Yes, I'm such a nerd that I'm posting my fuel economy from a cottage in the middle of the weekend... though in my defense, it's raining at the moment. We just beat the rain back to the dock!)
My previous best for this leg of the trip is high 90's, if memory serves. Will confirm when I get back.
EDIT: wrong - previous best was 103. See below for more details on best & average MPG for this trip which I've been taking for several years in the Insight.

IIRC, with MPGe numbers like that you would have been an
X-Prize (Mainstream) contender.
But then, it would be difficult to spend the $5M (US) prize wisely.

The X-Prize was for an EPA Combined rating of 100+MPG; which is considerably harder than the maximum. The Edison2 VLC X-Prize winner got 129MPG on the Highway rating, and at ideal speeds, it probably would be higher than that.
Go Darin, go!
Question: did you modify the sides of the boattail, after the tuft tests?

Great result and tail looks great. I wish I could build a tail for Berta...

The car is practically making gasoline now, it's so efficient.
109.7 MPG (US) for the return trip.
I've kept tabs on my fuel economy for this trip because I make it a couple of times each year, and always on the same route.
Some stats from those numbers ...
- average: 95.8 mpg (US), round trip
- previous best, going: 103.0
- previous best, returning: 102.9

Nope, I didn't bother.

Someone should do a car rally where they mimic the EPA Combined cycle, instead of a poker run.
Oh, and...

1 mm is definitely too thin at the rear of a car, but enough on the A-pillar.
Glider zig-zag tape is usually only half that thickness, so DIY would be the way to go for anything but the front.
