Too bad I cant use the saturn mp2 transmission

1-3.250 2-1.950 3-1.172 4-0.811 5-0.605 R-2.923 final 4.063

vs geo metro

1 -3.42 2-1.89 3-1.28 4-0.91 5- 0.76 R -3.27 Final 4.39 or possible 3.79 or 3.52

Or the 5th gear from the saturn in the 4cyl metro transmission, its worth a look.

There an 96 4cyl 5 speed trans on CL, 3.79. Dont know where to find a 3.52 FD.

I cut 3/4 turn off the rear springs. Lowered it about 1 1/4 inch. Who said it was easy, I had to undo the brake hoses and sway bar. Next time I'll use a spring compressor. I dont know why I didnt think of using it. I put a new exhaust pipe on it too. Now I can hear one tappet.

I drove 80 mph to pick up front struts on the interstate, it seemed like the engine was going to blow. Not good. Road noise and the turbulence from trucks blows it around. Its fine up to 60 or 65. Maybe I'll keep the Saturn or get a newer one. They didn't have the struts in stock. Im thinking of cutting the front springs one turn and flattening the end. Kind of wish I kept the old HF.

I like how the fan blows out relatively cool air even when the car is in the sun, unlike the saturn where the sun on the dash heats the air and never blows cool.

I think it's worth doing for this.

The white car has a mid-engine drivetrain swap and a slant chop. It looks like maybe you left the roof stock height and raised the beltline. [?] That's doing it the hard way.

I like Metros. I got my personal best mileage in one. Maybe flip it for a better example?

No, I selected the top and rotated it about the bottom of the windshield.

I put spacers above the steering column mount to lower it, about 1.5 inch, now I can see over the steering wheel. Id do another 3/4 if I had longer studs. Id have to do something with the wipers as theyd also block the view. Maybe use the pass side only and mod the arms to wipe the whole windshield, have it stop vertical, in the center of the windshield.

I don't know how to do the doors and windows, I assume that I cant use the stock glass. Im thinking maybe using PC panes that slide horizontal, like the Subaru SVX.

It may be just too big a project and then it would still be a geo metro. I can get a dohc 4 cyl trans, but not a sohc one.

Ohh...155/70r19..http://="https://chicago.craigslist....635911559.html

final drive 4.39 overdrive 0.759
3.332

  • rim tire section OD ratio mph@65 Rpm @ 65
  • 13 155 80 22.76 1.00 65.0 3198
  • 13 165 80 23.39 1.03 66.8 3112
  • 13 185 80 24.65 1.08 70.4 2953
  • 15 165 80 25.39 1.12 72.5 2867
  • 19 155 70 27.54 1.21 78.6 2643
  • 14 185 75 24.93 1.09 71.2 2921

Id either go with the 185/80R13 (8%) or the 165/80R15 (12%). Id need to find rims for the 15 in. It would make the car 1.3 inches taller vs 1 inch for the 185/80r13.

If I read your chart correctly that tire is 27.5” tall. That is larger than the fender cut out. I see where you are going. The GT trans is 4.1 so that will help, it may not have the mounting hole for the shifter support rod. Some transmission cases do not have both mounting locations. Search on GMF for some more info on tranny swaps. The Metro engines mount next to the right shock tower. The four cylinder engines are obviously one cylinder longer than the three. The shift rod fits with the trans in both positions, however the support rod has to mount in a different position. This is just an fyi, look at the case before you lay down the $ unless you want to open it up and change the case or fab a special support rod.

Hi
What are the biggest tires and wheels that will fit on a Geo Metro? I have 195/65R15 tires, that can get rims for.
