Yet again, another Grille Block

so been tossing around ideas and this past week i took about 20mins, and made a better lower grille block.

Used from scrap pieces of coroplast lying around, a couple dabs of 2-part "marine" grade epoxy to hold some end slide stops.

1 slot Open at all times

other slots are for extra cooling when A/c is on.

At the moment they are Manual adjusted. Gonna go to pick-n-pull, for a gear shift cable to use for "on the fly adjustments" inside the cabin. I plan to Block the upper Grill completely.

Rattle can primer once it was secured with zipties. little over-spray on the chrome trim, but nothing a little diluted paint thinner cant fix

It's been a little while, switching positions at work and getting used to my new set schedule these days. couple weekend outtings and Im Back.

A couple updates, my last tank out of town with the car packed and A/C full blast, was able to achieve a 49mpg @ approx. 62mph. Hit traffic early on but smooth sailing afterwards. That is with my updates below!

Now to the good stuff!
Added a Kammback!

I eyeball'd the hiegth at the end based on The Template outline tool on here, and wound up 1.5" higher than suspected I'd need to be, based on a comparison with a 3rd Gen prius then lowered accordingly afterwards.

Boot Lid extention(tail)

Extends ~22" back from the top plane of the boot lid, and rounded off at the end. Attached with Zebra Print Ducktape to match and flare up the paint.
The sides are braced with eachother on the underside, so as not to fold in. And i have to leve the section open for my lisence plate and reverse lights to be visible. opens with the trunk

I also reworked the wheel skirts! with 1 solid piece of Plastic Flyer material. I reused the metal brace that ran horizontally underneath near the bottom to keep a continuos curve shape and to prevent rubbing. then had another support bar running vertically, as to not allow the material to be sucked/collapse into the wheel. Is connected directly to the side skirts for less abstruction and ease. Also spray painted the lower few inches to flow with the color of the skirts.

And the last lower bits contoured around the bumper connected to the diffuser panel is to minimize the Radi around the bumper to Increase flow seperation.

Front Blocks

dont have any straight on shots at the moment. But what you can see are the side accent areas have been covered along with the full upper grill block and a strip of tape to seal the NASTY hood gap. It's at least .6" gap.

Oh and the Added lower Dam was taken off, since i had cut it in center and just turned it into extra long wheel spats. just looked funny afterwards. I do have plans on replacing it eventually...

Believe me, ive been looking, just no where in my area are there 15" pans without having to order some online or spending $20+/each. then might as well get proper covers from somewhere else.

I have some 13" pans that were a dollar at Wall-e Mart, they might work, but look really junky and out of place, which is why they are not on at this moment. maybe ill spray em with white primer and put em on anyways and see how they do...

She's starting to look 90-years-old.And that's good! Some of the aero pioneers would be very pleased to see what you've done.

Aww its totally nothing compared to what some others have done, on a much better looking scale. When im able to DO "Stuff" to the car ...gets my mind and body focused from other things, when i do this, my inner 5yr old self gets all giddy like unwrapping a Giant tub of LEGO's for christmas!
Jenga was just a metal container full of door stops...

I mean REALLY, im doing all the easy "work" this kind of "work" is fun to me. You guys are the ones I got some ideas from and more or less copied... I still have many years and much knowledge to learn!!!

How's rear visibility with that much of a Kamm on it? Did you use the zebra tape to attach it too?

Just the same, everyone in your geographic area who see your project will be hurled into a cognitive vortex.
Seeing the car is a first-order-reality experience and it's very existence forces onlookers to mentally engage in ways otherwise unimaginable.
The car is visually striking and I suspect it will be the topic of much conversation.
Now aware of potentialities, those folks may alter their interest and pay more attention to 'forms'.
Trickle up education! Only good can come from it.And I tip my hat to you and all the others who are 'doing something.'

Just clear (Target brand) packing tape, 'surpisingly sticky stuff' at the moment. need to redo it soon with the zerba print after this last rain
Rear (direct) visability isn't bad. At stops and close trailing cars, i can see the passengers eye-level without adjusting my angle. Large trucks, mostly the grill and just under the windshied is where it cuts off.

I'm very animated when scanning traffic, i think im okay if i wanted to decrease the visibilty further. but opening the trunk would be a pain. and abiding by local laws about rear visability, which most police dont even notice. Or laugh when driving past. KCPD are suprisingly cool about mods.

Very nice mods but I do think the zebra stripes look out of place.

You can always cut wheel covers from coroplast and zip tie them onto the spokes. Paint them black and no one will know!

Very impressive MPG numbers. I can't wait for the boat tail!
