That's what it was. There were apparently a few rare ones made. Ours was a rental out of the Petaluma CA airport. I flew in a lot of small planes in Alaska, and know the difference between the 150/152 and larger high wing Cessnas. See the linked photo.
Google "Cessna 152 RG" and you'll find links to 152RGs in Oregon and Maui, too.

As pref light equipment is to check the engine cowling for nests, the last thing you want is an engine fire on takeoff!

Sorry, the photo in the link is mis-labeled as a 152-RG, but it is a 172 (and fixed gear at that). If you click the arrow to go to the next photo, it shows a 172 fixed gear also. The Google results are from similar, incorrect statements about 152RG's. There were no retractable gear 152's made. This is what a 152 looks like:
And here is the 172RG, also called the Cutlass:
Sorry, not trying to be difficult, but I am a licensed aircraft mechanic and can assure you there are no 152RG's.

I have only been an aircraft mechanic for 3 years but I have still only ever seen or heard of one 152RG.
I once found a squished bird in the air filter housing of an airplane. I guess he was in there when the plane started up. lol.

You can see as much as I. Looks like Dow Super-Tuff. I scavenged that piece from a remodelling site.
I haven't tested it for combustableness but it doesn't matter, there's nothing very hot on top of this engine anyway.
The foil faced foam does a nice job of retaining heat. I leave it in there year around now; I pull the grille block in the summer for hauling/towing.

At this point I'm going to have to admit my memory must be faulty. I've emailed my former boss who piloted the plane, to ask him what we flew in. We flew to Reno in a number of planes, including Beechcraft Bonanza & C172, over the years.

Did it have a back seat?
If yes, it wasn't a 150/152.
There are no retractable gear 150/152s, unless some enterprising owner ecomodded his.
