I have a 94 gmc td diesel with OBD1, it uses a PMD, pump mounted driver that runs the ip pump, I'm thinking the pulses are of the duration type, and should run the MPGunio like vss on an injector. Any thoughts or experience with this system anyone?

I think first of all you should use oscilloscope and check all the signals from ECU to Injection pump. If you'll find signal that is varying in time proportionally to the supposed fuel dose you may try to use it for MPGuino. After some calibration you should check if the numbers are corresponding to the pump. If yes, there you go!
