Yessssssssssss!

I decided to work on the car this weekend, changing the oil, checking out the non-functioning AC, etc . . .

After reading up on AC issues in a G1 Insight, some guys said their AC wouldn't function with the IMA battery turned off. So I pulled off the cover, clicked the IMA back on, and drove around for a while until it registered, and was pretty pumped to see that not only is my AC now functioning again, so is the big battery!

I now have AC, assist, regen, auto start and auto stop! Hopefully it'll last, and if it doesn't, I plan on splurging for the big battery from one of the sellers.

I'm going to buy a Volt by the end of the year (almost bought the one below yesterday and may still get it by next weekend) so I want to make sure Ron Burgundy is in perfect working order before I pass it on to the next lucky owner

Nice! How many miles does Ron Burgundy have now? Any outstanding problems, like 2nd gear grind?

The car has a little over 131K now, I've put about 20K on it since I've owned it (with a lifetime mpg of 74.4 during my ownership)

Everything else works great!
It doesn't have any of the classic G1 Insight issues (ISB whine, tranny downshift grind, wet seatbelt, door latch issues, etc . . . car is pretty much in perfect working order. Tires are about half-life, interior is still awesome, there are a couple paint chips off the front, but overall it's about the nicest Insight you'll ever see

Dang, I forgot how much you have to work the lean burn purge out on the highway!

Of course, I also forgot how easy it is to hypermile with a working IMA . . . . got pretty good results on my way to work this morning

It's raining up here too, I figure it's a loss of 10-20mpg.

Got them off Rock Auto, and it looks like they're still available in the link below. I bought a few since it's cheaper per item on shipping.

So far I love it, my car is way cooler when I get ready to leave work in the evening and the smaller size one looks like it's custom made for an Insight. There are now five people at work with one, it's funny to see them all in the parking lot

Doh!

I got them off Amazon, link is below. These are also awesome and a lifesaver here in sunny Florida!

Warning: A bunch of guys on IC will be horrified and act like you did something sacrilegious, and will assume you live in a trailer if you put them on, lol
