I probably just bought a tee shirt for a hundred bucks - but you never know, so wish me luck!

If Elio ever becomes a reality my hundred bucks just locked in the price (now 7,300 bucks) so I figured I'd get off the fence and actually chip in to make it happen (or at least make a tee shirt happen).

***UPDATE*** I forgot, my hundred buck donation (I mean down payment) also got me a bumper sticker, which makes it way more legit

More power to you cowmeat, but Elio is never happening. I saw the car and talked to staff last year at the L.A car show, I'm definitely not convinced.

Yeah, it's definitely a long shot! But Elio tee shirts are happening!

If nothing else it'll make me keep up on any new developments better than I have been.

So this happened on the way home Friday night. Finally found out what was under the solar panel, lol!

That ghetto hole cut through the hood sure looks like something I would have done, but it was actually like that when I bought the car. I'm going to pull all the solar components out and cover this mess with a hood scoop.

I'm ordering a replacement IMA battery today! I'm pretty tired of fighting my current one. Although I have autostart and autostop, I have no assist and I have to reset the 12V every trip or it will recal

Just hold out until we can find a Super Brain and I'll find out how to get these sticks working again. Our we could swap ours since I rarely drive anymore, anyway.

Why the heck is that hole so big? Oh, now I see it when I enlarged it. Measure once, cut 15 times.

You ought to just Bondo it and Plasti-Dip the hood.

Well, I covered the gaping hole in the hood

After the solar panel blew off I had to find a way to cover the hole in the hood, so I went with a stick-on hood scoop until I can find something else I like better. The black actually matches the trim and the lower grill block, so it doesn't look completely out of place

Not optimal, but it does cover the hole for now. I don't think I'm taking a big aero hit since I stayed at 77.3 mpg on the way to work, which is where I was last night

Saying goodbye to the Insight!

Well, after a fun year and a half driving & modding Ron Burgundy, I have traded the car in on a Chevy Volt. Although it's been one of the coolest cars I've owned, I needed the 4 doors for some car seats!

If you live in Florida and you're looking for a custom, one of a kind Insight, start checking Craigslist. I'm sure the car went straight to auction, and one of you guys could get a really good deal if you find it at a local car lot.

The IMA battery is really weak, as I'm sure you know if you've been reading this thread, but otherwise the car is in excellent shape, with none of the classic Insight issues like ISB noise, tranny downshift grind, wet seat belts, electronic issues, etc . . .

Hope somebody here lands the car, I'd like to keep up with the rest of the story!

One last parting pic, taken at the dealership in West Palm Beach:

I saw a 2014 Volt at a used car dealership yesterday. Definitely gets the mind wondering.

Congrats on the new wheels & sorry to see this thread end!

Hopefully someone picks up your Insight and appreciates it.
