I think coolent temps above 205*F will trigger the fan.

On my car (06 GP) the operating temperature range 194 to 225. The cooling fans with the air off won't come on until the temp reaches 220 degrees then turn back off at 197 degrees.

I noticed that the car was a bit warmer by the time I got to work but I do not drive the car now. At the time the t-stat was drilled and did not have a gasket so it was allowing coolant flow when the car was not warm, the car did seem to stay warmer longer though.

It was installed engine side of the black honeycomb but in front of the bumper, the reason I did it that way was it looks like it is not there.

most domestic GM cars of those years has the fan coming on between 220 and 228 degrees.

If you live in a nice climate like here in so cal, one solution would also be to improve the radiator's ability to cool with less air by reducing the amount of antifreeze in the system.

A 25/75 mix of antifreeze and distilled water is what I run. The thicker viscosity of antifreeze tends slow heat transfer. Also, the thinner viscosity of water helps improve economy by reducing the amount of effort needed to pump the coolant.

The only problem with reducing the concentration of antifreeze is you also reduce the boiling point.

true but not a cause for concern if you have a properly working pressure cap on your radiator. Most cars run 16-18psi for coolant pressure which effectively raises the 25/75 mix boiling point to a point of little additional concern

NOTE: Water at ~17PSIG boils at about 250*F, adding coolant to that raises it higher
