I paid three grand cash for it, and it's the nicest one I've seen in the state of Florida, and I looked at a whole bunch of them before I bought this one. It would have cost me five grand in other states!

The three grand was all money I had saved after selling the Land Rover and driving the Festiva for two and a half years.

I'm still banking my savings from driving the Insight (even more now), and it'll be the down payment for my Elio if they ever get off their collective asses and start up production!

Just got caught up with this thread. Great job so far! I love the look of the grill block. I've put off my asperations of acquiring an insight for practical reasons, but after reading through this I feel that itch again. Perhaps in the spring a deal like this one will present itself and I will be able to indulge myself a little bit

Mikey, I'm sure the gas prices will force the eco-car prices down over the next couple of months, so jump on them while they're hot!

I already talked to this guy in south Florida, and I'm pretty sure he'd let this Insight go for 1500 bucks, maybe even less. I was considering getting it to add to the fleet, but overspent on Christmas so I'll have to pass:

2000 Honda Insight 48MPG

Yeah. That is super tempting lol.. Ideally I'm looking for an auto trans since it would be the wife's main car, with me driving it on the weekends (I have to have my truck for work). She has no desire to learn a standard trans, therefore I am limited in my ability to expand my eco-fleet, while keeping overall cost's down. It sounds good though

Side note: Low fuel prices also keep me from being able to justify the purchase of an extra vehicle. kind of a catch 22 there unfortunately. Filled up for $1.74/gallon last night.

Then this one:

2003 Honda Insight

You could more than likely get this one for under two grand and drive it as-is until you figure out the battery issue. As long as the CVT isn't shuddering like crazy it's a good deal.

I would not use the current gas prices (although they're awesome) as an indicator. Gas being this low will only last until the next threat of war, or the next oil spill, or a Chinese economic collapse, or any one of a huge number of imminent factors, and it'll drive the gas prices right back up there. Then the car you just bought for two grand will suddenly be selling for 4 or 5 grand again and you'll be thanking yourself!

I love the insight in blue I'm sure I could figure the battery out if it's not a major issue. I have family in Tampa that we need an excuse to go and see.. Maybe the wife will let me haha. It says 4 cyclinders, but that can't be right can it?

Man, I wish mine had four cylinders sometimes!

Pinellas Park's just on the other side of the bridge, man! If my wife wouldn't kill me, I'd go look at it the thing myself!

My wife seems open to the idea since it would be about 20 minutes from her grand parents and aunt and uncle's house. I'll let you know next week if we're serious about it. Maybe you could check it out for me if I compensated you? And I would definitely want help doing some mods before driving it 2k miles if you were up for it. No pressure though haha.

Might be able to check it out this weekend or next weekend for ya. I need to get over there anyway. We lived in Pinellas county for years, and there are some friends I need to stop in and see.

I doubt that the Insight will sell fast with IMA problems so it will probably still be available.
