You're not allowed to complain about cold. :P

But you're absolutely right: the cold weather impact on temperature sensitive hybrids is bigger than usual.

It is also a known fact the insights battery doesn't play well under 40F.

Met Ecky today at a truck stop by my work, I'm borrowing his grid charger to try to revive my battery a bit.
This is literally the first time I have ever seen two Insights at the same time, and it's even cooler because it's pretty certain our cars were actually built the same day, since Gaptooth is #876, Turtle is #880.

Complete with matching ecomodder & 70+MPG decals, they were like twins.

Thanks for the help Ecky, it was good to meet you!

Cool! It's always a thrill seeing other insights, especially when there is 15-20 at the same time

I was wondering what to use for a lower grill block, when it dawned on me that I still had the aluminum spoiler from my son's Subaru Legacy wagon.
It used to hang off the back of Black Widow as a flat detached wing, before I bought the Kammback.
Now it has been re-purposed once again into a grill block for Turtle, and once again I scraped through another mod with a net cost of zero! The fit was pretty good considering this is the third car it has been on.

I'll have to remove it next week and paint it or my wife will kill me, but it will end up looking pretty legit!

I sprayed it flat black on the car real quick, and when we went to get in her car a little while ago she walked right by the front of Turtle and didn't say a word, lol!

She probably didn't notice it. That is an extremely clean grill block, it's almost exactly what I plan on designing.

Can you show me how you mounted it?

Attachment was nothing fancy . . . . I just used the two flat steel pieces that I had originally mounted to the spoiler when I had used it as a flat detached wing on Black Widow, and just bent the straps 90 degrees to use as an attachment for the grill block. They ended up looking like this:

3 in. Zinc Plated Corner Braces (4-Pack)-15307 at The Home Depot

I pre-drilled a hole in each of the steel straps to mount to the inside top of the bumper opening, then pre-drilled a matching hole in the bumper. I removed the straps from the spoiler, bolted them onto the bumper, and then re-attached the spoiler to them.

I'm sure you could get a spoiler like this for cheap at any U-Pull junkyard with an older Legacy wagon in it
