Rebuilt IAC. Responds to electrical loads nicely but still idle away fast. Must be a vacuum leak or a bad engine coolant sensor.

I once made a smoke machine to test vacuum leaks.

It’s a good idea but I don’t wanna. I’m just going to use the time honored “spray throttle body cleaner around until it drops rpm.”

Be sure to light some candles to appease those temperamental mechanical spirits.

Welp, mostly figured out the fast idle. Not gonna go into detail, it was mainly just unplugged vacuum ports.

Did a compression test... not good. Apparently metros are toast anywhere below 156psi. I got 91, 126, 96. Ugh, gonna need an engine rebuild. I might be able to limp it through smog, we’ll see.

Got yelled at on the metro forum for posting the mileage I got on my first sort of wrong octane tank (around 50-55mpg).

Low compression, but your car has a ridiculous amount of modifications!

The friendly guys here MPG-shamed me for only averaging 44 MPG in my Civic. It turned out that I had low compression. When I fix the heater core I will see if replacing the head gasket happened to improve the compression.

"End of topic"

Does that get bumped with each post [EOM] or did they put the kibosh on the subject?
