It is interesting that VW is not competing for the X prize. Do they consider it too ambitious, or not worth the paperwork and PR minefield?

They don't want to work that hard to get their millions. They try to extract that much out of every customer, and the customers come to them!

There is a recent article on the UP with the VW XL1 drivetrain in several places, now when I can go to the local VW dealer and buy one I will believe it.

This car unfortunately will never make it to US like many others over in Europe that are diesels. The US do not like small diesels for whatever reasons. It really is to bad actually it would be nice to have more diesel options here in the states. I guess the only way is to just build our own LOL!
