From this distance, credit cards and online commerce seem like a hive of scum and villainy. We're starting to see the problems manifest, with GoFMe manipulated by a national government.
Avoiding electronic payments is another example of making your life needlessly complicated.

How do you know how complicated my life is, anyway?

Examples of minor complications would be when the phone rings and a voice tells me my iPhone order or Amazon order is in jeopardy, and I'm all anxious until I remember I've never had an iPhone or Amazon order. That and the one where you pick up and there is 10-15 seconds of silence and then two clicks and (occasionally) a message that the call couldn't be completed.

Other than that it's quiet in the neighborhood. Except I fired up the Dasher diesel today and filled the neighborhood with a cloud of blue smoke -- a new battery from the little shop down Main street. I'm typing on an Apple shorty keyboard ($5 at Nextstep) on an $80 Raspberry Pi computer (Best Buy). I bought the screen about 20 years ago. The modem is 30 years old.

You tell us things like you spent 6 days looking for a landline phone without success.

Sorry but I can't relate. I haven't answered a telemarketer or scammer call for years. The magic of caller ID.

I'm feeding Google's algorithm, you're just a by-stander. I'm happy to discuss it with you though.

I admire the Amish, some of whom allow a telephone in a booth at the end of the driveway. Especially the Black Bumper Amish and the Mennonites. Not shaving off my moustache though.

The Amish are now allowing cell phones for business owners so they can conduct online business from non believers that drool over hand/home made and pay large

They decide on a community-by-community basis. The Black Bumper Amish drive their own cars, instead of hiring out.

They also democratically believe their way is so superior that eventually everyone will be a believer of their philosophy so there is no reason to force compliance (much).

This is getting close to the edges of the terms of service, but....

They're not necessarily wrong.

That would be the AMISH's point as noted above, you just haven't become aware, yet.
