New kid from Oregon

I've lurked long enough, it's time to say hi.

Currently driving a Lotus Seven replica with a Kubota 1100cc turbo diesel*, working on a Metro-powered mid engine sports car, both with economy more the point than performance. I guess that covers it.

Regards, Jack

Welcome to EM. What kind of FE do you get from a Locost? I have never heard of one. I would imagine it would depend on the donor car involved.

JackMcCornack -

Welcome to EM! Went to your website. Wowee, that's a cool kit car! I've always loved the Lotus Super 7's and the power/weight ratio concept of performance. I'm sorry about your accident, but happy that things weren't worse. From what I read, it sounds like you weren't hurt. How much were you able to salvage for MAX 2.0?

A Locost is a high school shop project level of difficulty stand-back-and-squint "replica" of a 50 year old Lotus sports car. I have gobs of aero work to do (fortunately it's my specialty) and right now I'm just getting baseline data, but in my one drive-it-like-you-stole-it hundred mile blast down twisty roads I got 50+ mpg, which ain't bad for a guy having too much fun in a roadster.

Hi Jack - a very belated welcome to the forum from me too.

It's funny - EcoModder has so many members coming & going that I mistakenly thought you were a brand spanking new member when I saw your post this week: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ject-9852.html

We might have crossed paths in kimer6's Diesel Metro thread (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ving-5571.html), but it slipped my mind.

You've got a wonderful writing style. I really got a kick out of the blog series you did for Mother Earth about your MAX locost Kubota project - http://www.motherearthnews.com/blogs...d=1500&tag=MAX

cheers
Darin
