The DSG is amazing. Each gear change is invisible to the driver except for the rev counter dancing up or down - no jerks or sudden shifts.
Yeah, the DSG7 is about as good as auto trannies come.

It even shifts between Neutral and coasting in gear by itself depending on what gets the best MPG - it says "Coasting" on the display, otherwise the revs drop to idle when you lift off - even at 70 +.
Brilliant - how does it perform if you try to hyper mile it ?
Does it do it all the time when you lift the throttle fully ?

The DSG7 is geared longer than the manual box, so they perform slightly better on the NEDC.

Long gearbox, instant coasting function ...
I wish VAG would combine all this with it's cylinder deactivation system and CNG propulsion.

Second issue is that because cars keep track of servicing this thing thinks it needs an oil change just because it is coming up to a year old. The selling dealer stated both of these had been done, but as they obviously haven't we will get them done (so we know they have been) and have an argument with the dealer seperately later - this thing is needed for work.
If they did the servicing, but didn't reset the time / miles counter, the servicing alert would still come back to haunt you

Here you have to pass more stringent limits with a DPF.
If not, it's seen as not functioning properly.

Meeting the non-DPF limits won't cut it.

Different rules here. Maybe more so if/when we tell the eu to bog off, if we do...

Apart from hills and descents it does it all itself including stop start. It is in 5th by 30 mph. It even has modes for the engine, gearbox and ac. 70 mph is 1300 rpm.

All reset now. It had obviously had little use or only local use so new oil and filters seemed a good move.

Perspectives for CNG in the European market got kinda dark due to the sanctions against Russia, but I still believe there's a good market opportunity for investments on biomethane. Anyway, it's still cheaper to manufacture a spark-ignited engine and its related emissions-control devices are also less of a PITA.

That sounds like a great car, big cargo room, big power, good automatic transmission.

30MPG! what more can you ask for?

I wonder how the CNG option would cope with the longer gearing given it has less torque, and with a turbo a lower CR too.

Market demand remains the same.
Production will remain the same.
So nothing much will happen. Short-term there might be a bit of a hiccup.

Putin simply needs to keep selling his gas to whomever - or his empire collapses.

A turbocharger can do miracles in a CNG-powered engine, since it can be fitted with an overbooster to emulate a variable-compression ratio.
