New Yaris 3dr 5spd...

Well I asked for help on choosing a car in an earlier post and I got some...
I ended up buying a 3dr Yaris 5spd base model.

After two tanks, I can say the 41.7 & 41.5 mpg isn't a fluke... My commute isriving 55-60 mph on rolling hills on 2/4 lane country highways for 35 miles of my commute about 17 miles of intown 35-45 mph roads and 28 stoplights...

This is bonestock driving pretty normal, just a lil (DFCO) Decelerating Fuel Cut off and timing lights... Nothing radical... Tires are at stock 32 psi... I should be receiving some aero hubcaps this week and will bump up the tires to 40psi front/36rear and see what I get then...

Maybe when the tax check comes in I'll get a SGII and get serious about hyper miling...

Congrats on the new ride. Looks like you're off to a great start. Just a little tweaking and you should be seeing 50+ MPG in no time.

How's the clutch in that thing? Someone in the old thread was talking about how weird his is, but I'm curious about whether the second generation has been improved in that area.

Nice mileage on the new ride. I'd suggest an upper grill block as well to add to the list of to do mods.

It is definitely not sports car like... It isn't that bad for a econo/penalty box type of car... However there is a sporty short shift kit available from Micro Image if you're into such things

That should be a good one to do, but want the SG so I can monitor temps and not mess sumthing up down here in ATLANTA traffic

of course red yaris.... Your car showed me some inspiration... plus I have a few friends that get own yari's..... One gets 42mpg and the other 39 buy he drives fast,,,

I got the stainless wheelcovers coming in this week... and once I get a SGII.... DAOX got me thinking of doing a smoked lexan grill block with the heat gun (if my high school plastics class memory serves me correctly....that is) Give it a moustache...

I'd love to drop her just a bit and run a rubber air dam lip as well... But don't want to eff up a new car to much.... But with a starting cda of 0.287... i doubt there's too much low hanging fruit to justify much expense.... Your warm air intake has me wondering... but not much info on that..

Don't waste your money and time with a WAI. It's been tested on the 1NZ-FE, yielding no benefits.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the warm-air intake for cars that DON'T have a MAF? As in older vehicles? I thought vehicles with a MAF would throw a lean code and richen the fuel.

Congrats on the MPG by the way. Makin' me look bad.

Congratulations on the new car! I always liked those little yari's. As far as a WAI, you could always just remove the snorkel that goes from the airbox to the inner fender. That way it's sucking engine bay air plus it's free, easy, and reversible.
