Geo owners

hey i have a 93 geo metro base, i know some of you have the same engine , transmission combos that i do and i usually run about 52-55 mph, and in good conditions, although many hills because i live in the mountains , i get about 55-60mpg, is this optimal mph? thanks

50-60 mpg seems above average for most metros, nice . Keep it up.

yeah i think i could get mid 60's but i have few oppurtunities for p&g here, not much flat ground , plus the roads suck, its a heck of a bump ride in a metro, i was going to try to find a civic hatchback shell and swap a vx motor in it , but recent financial strains have put that on hold

I would get about the same mileage (55-60 MPG) on the highway if I did 50-mph in nice weather. That fuel economy would sink to about 36 MPG if I did 70-mph though.

It's been so long since I've done a trip where I was just cruising (vs. P&G), I can't tell you for sure. But based on the speed vs. mpg chart I made, I would say 50-60 mpg @ 50-55 mph in good weather is reasonable:

Note - the green line was with the car in its "original" configuration - original cam & transmission.

I keep it around 50-55. I will only hit above that when I'm setting myself up for a long EOC. It sound as if we live in similar situations, HILLS! Mostly down hill [20 miles] on the way to work, mostly up hill on the way back home. On the up hill, I frequently drop to 40ish. Steep hill.
