Nissan Frontier XE 2.4L — 29 mpg

Everybody says I should be getting at most, 25 mpg on the highway.

I regularly get 28, 29, and sometimes 30, in the summer, on the truck?

How'd I do it?

I've Microlon'd the engine and tranny but that's it.

Just clean living?

SweetDoug

Lower average speeds. Good for 72 mpg in my 38 combined car. Nissan trucks do good with good gearing.

Microlon: It works. Really well.

I was involved in an automotive business, and we sold Microlon as a dealer and I've seen amazing results with the product for doing things like extending wear times on items like bearings in industrial applications, where the lifesspan was literally measured to the day. Upon application, their bearings, which were going into an acidic bath, just stopped wearing.

If it moves, Microlon it. Go to their web site and they will have reams of information, and solid testing data, not just testimonials.

From my experience with Microlon, a car would generally get only a 5-8% increase in mileage. Maybe a little better, often.

And components would stop wearing. This was documented using oil analysis which anyone can do, to check for wear with particles in the oil.

Don't worry, I'm not click baiting. I couldn't give a darn if anyone buys it or not.

But my mileage is in no way explained by just the addition of Microlon.

I just did a drive in ≈ 32°F weather, 58 mph, and got 29.8 mpg in the middle of winter?

I love this little truck.

Sounds like the old Slick 50 song and dance. They had graphs and whatnot too.

Not to rain on your parade, I'm sure you're very happy with the stuff but Microlon has had a day in the sun here already, and wasn't well received: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ene-28190.html

Driving modestly like that, I'd be surprised if you didn't get good mileage. Your truck, if it's a single cab and 4x2 like mine, is a relatively lightweight vehicle with a really straightforward drivetrain. I reckon your rear axle ratio is pretty modest, too - not very tall, not very low. Just right for a little bit of everything, and great for pushing a modest truck down the road at not-too-fast speeds. If you could spend your time on back roads with few stops and lower speeds, it would probably do even better.

My truck, with no mechanical mods, can push into the mid-30s for fuel mileage on long interstate trips - that's keeping right at 60mph. No engine treatments or anything like that.
