OBD2 - USB on ebay --- any good?

obd2 usb, eBay Motors, auterra items on eBay.com

Many of these OBD2 to USB w/ software on ebay. $160 for a SC is not in the budget.... but $30 could be

I have an old laptop that would work just fine for this, anyone used these?

I have never tried it or heard anyone else say anything about them. Maybe you could try it and let us know! Of course, you may want to integrate the laptop screen into the dash somehow for that "Futuristic" look

Verify the program knows how to calculate the fuel consumption by itself. Generally these programs are mainly toward diagnostics and just show you the data they receive from the OBD2 plug and the fuel consumption is not part of these data.

Without the fuel consumption you may have help from open/closed loop, RPM, load, TPS...

Charlie Brown Arghhhh!!!

I have one from here :

ScanTool.net - Home - Welcome to ScanTool.net

Here's the nitty gritty :

http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ging-1781.html

Scanguage is better for day-to-day MPG stuff, unless you have the skillzz to implement an MPG algorithm.

I bought one like 2 weeks ago I just got it and it is (was working) but now I am having a problem, but I think it's my fault so yeah it should work. I'll post more when I find out what my problem is.
