Off-grid, "off the shelf" shack

Via Treehugger: an architect built a neat mountainside shack "using products pulled from the shelves of a home-improvement retailer."

I have a soft spot for clever, space efficient dwellings. This one, perched on a slope in West Virginia, seems to qualify...

Though is is down several rungs from Gypsy Rose: a beautiful, downsized, DIY, mobile, off-grid cabin. (To be fair, Gypsy Rose is more of a tiny house than a cabin - well above a "shack". If we're going to establish a hierarchy...)

I love the roll-up garage door.

If this kind of thing interests you, check the search results for "tiny house" at Treehugger.
