So far nothing for my $55

I purchased an MPGuino at the beginning of October. It took 1 month to arrive and I very carefully installed it and found that only the screen back-light would come on (no characters). At this point Amy B instructed me to ship it back to her and pay for return postage. I did this at the beginning of November and since then I have been unable to get a reply from her since, despite 4 polite emails since the beginning of December.

I think that this kind of treatment is unreasonable. I know this is a "donation," but I expected a working device in return, as claimed at opengauge.org. All I have gotten is a lot of frustration.

At this point I am unsure I will ever see a working MPGuino, and of course it is too late to dispute with paypal. Of course what I really want is a working MPGuino...I would really appreciate some reply from Amy about my case.

Yup, things are moving slow at the moment, we will try to make all hardware right though (and all units are tested before shipping). Nobody is making a living off of this and the price is hopefully right, extra emails probably won't speed up the process.

Well just so you guys know (you're not alone), the first mpguino I bought was junk. Froze all the time, had to unplug it to get it to work again for 1-5 days then it froze again.

I bought another and have had zero problems for 8 months or so. So beware, you get what you pay for, a grass roots, might work device with zero help or sympathy from the maker. I had to buy another one rather then get mine replaced for free. I will say its a super awesome little device though now that its working.

Excited to receive mine. Out of curiosity, does it show RPMs? My vehicle doesn't have a tachometer. Thank you.

I find it sad that I hope MPGuino isn't on its last legs. Since the current orders for preassembled ones are on hold, and it's been since May 2010 since the Kit has been discontinued. Can anyone in the loop tell us that the project is dead? I hate for that to happen, this is such a great project and I was hoping to get one for my wagon.

Do remember folks this is not a corporation mass making these in china and selling them. its largely (correct me if I am wrong) effectively volunteer hobbyists doing it for the good of everyone. BY HAND.

took me 5-6 weeks to get mine last year I am so happy with it its crazy almost immediate 7mpg improvement just from the instant feedback this provides. if they come back and I can afford it I plan to get another as a spare as I intend to never own another gasoline car without one.

How are things going with the backlog? What's the roadblock that's holding things up and is there anything others can do to help out?

I could offer to stuff a few boards if that helps clear the backlog.

Mike
