Ok, I get it. You have an automatic. The vss signal the guino is looking for is like 0 to 12 volts, and there should be one in your dashboard still feeding the ECU (yellow green). There is also a vss on the automatic transmission that is probably in the millivolt range that only serves the transmission, at least according to the last post in this thread:

I think the ECU speed signal will set your speed right.

OK, found wires(my ecu is under dash, drivers side, above fuse block) tapped vss (yellow w/green stripe) and speed function worked. Then tapped inj (yellow w/black stripe) got nothing. Now speed doesn't work either. Sorry to be such a problem child with this, but when I'm done I'll post pics of proper connections for others w/older metros.
Re-ran entire wire, got speed, but still no fuel data. Also, at highway speed signal fluctuates greatly(65 - 85 mph with vehicle at constant speed), then froze. Disconnected (waiting 20 sec before reconnecting) then functioned ok for a bit, then went blank. I know all my connections are solid, and can't figure what my problem is.

I'm interested in this Guino FE computer as my 2001 turbodiesel car has no OBD-II port, so I can't use my scangauge. Would the guino work on my engine considering it's a diesel? If you can't give an immediate answer, what information do you need to know? I've been seeing some negative responses to the guino working on diesels which is putting me off a little, however the diesels in question tend to be old, while my engine isn't that old.
Thanks very much for your time in advance!

Hey go2guy, was the backlight on when it went blank? I would try reflashing it at this point, but it is easy for me to say (and do). You can sase it back if you want me to do that, pm me if you need the address. I'll put the unit through it's paces while it is here.
Eddles, so far it is a custom job to get diesel feedback. The audi/vw folks have had considerable luck using a signal coming from the ECU and on a TDI as well, and Another guy got it pretty much working on a pugeot HDI car . But those are the only diesels that I know of.

Guino FE Computer interest
As well as Eddles, my engine is a diesel with no OBD-II port. It is a W124 Mercedes, has some ports, but I dont know what signals do they carry.
So I am interested on the Guino FE Computer, and would like to contact the builder or someone who can tell what signals does Guino FE computer need as inputs, to see if it serves my purposes.
Look forward to comments on this subject.
Tks to all,
Old Beaver.

this is awesome, only found out about what this mpguino is now.
i wanted a scangauge for my pickup, but i first contacted nissan belgium to make sure it was OBDII compatible and two days later i had a short answer saying : "we can affirm you that you cannot mount a scangauge on your vehicle"
it's a nissan kingcab pickup 2.5 liter turbodiesel from the year 2000. it actually has a port similar to the OBD ports. would the MPGuino work on it?

I don't know enough about nissan diesels to say for sure, but probably not, at least in stock form. There are a few folks mentioned in the links in post 45 that found ways to make it work, but you have to know a lot about how your vehicle exactly controls the fuel to sort it out.

looks complicated, wouldn't there otherwise be a simple sollution. like if theres a cable that gives impulses based on the fuel pump consumption, then could you hook up a simple gauge with a needle that moves as the consumption changes?
it wouldn't give MPG data, but with a sheme you could roughly guess the mpg based on pump data and gear and speed?
