I myselve have a cheap running car, 19/km per liter, that is 44.7/mpg US, so that helps to make my fuel bill a bit more acceptable.
Eddie.
Let me try rewording that -- I'd like it if the prices in my country weren't as artificially low as they are, so that people would be more encouraged to conserve and find alternatives to driving single-occupant gas vehicles.

Better?

G'day Lemmy,
That is about 1.13 UK Pound per liter, that sure is also very expensive, here diesel is about $1.09 per liter that is close to 5 UK Pound per gallon.....BUT.....here we have to pay with a diesel also 6.2 cents per km or 10cents per mile roadtax what is included in the price of petrol.....+.....it did cost 140 dollar per year more to register a diesel than a petrol car, so after 5 diesels i changed to a cheap running petrol car.
I now have a Smart forfour car that runs about 19km per liter or close to 54mpg UK, so for me that makes up for it a bit.
Take care and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Eddie.

Act now!

North American members with spare fuel storage capacity might want to stock up soon.

In mid-February, oil refineries in the U.S. typically shut down for spring maintenance and the switch-over to "summer" blend gasoline.

This heralds the traditional beginning of the climb in fuel prices from their winter lows toward the summer peak.

It doesn't happen every year, but it's been a pattern for the past 3, despite increasing massive year-over-year national fuel stockpiles in the States.

But then you are burning winter gas all summer. And you should have to buy stabilizer.

My Firefly seemed to run just fine on 7 year-old gas when I bought it.

(However, I immediately drained and replaced it with fresh fuel anyway.)

---

Refinery maintenance appears to be having the expected outcome, and then some: U.S. gasoline inventories said to have dropped more last week than any week in the past 2 years.

EDIT: now they're saying the gasoline reserve decline is the largest since 2011.

Typical oil company PR, "...pre-announce BAD news, so the customers are acclimatized to the BAD news when it DOES occur..."
