Sorry if in the wrong area on the forum. Thought I might be wearing out my introduction thread. Just gonna update things with the olds as I take the first steps toward hypermiling and diy aero mods. Started by just taking it easy on my 150 mile round trip to work. Cranked out a pretty decent 28.3 mpg out of the old n/a 3.8 v6. So i wanted 30 at this point and here I am. I have been coasting alot doing the wide cornering for maintaining momentum and no ideling. My 28.2 mpg tank had 404 miles on it, I'm currently at 275 miles on a half a tank so we will see. I purchased some lawn edging to make a front and probably side air damn for the car next week. New air filter today and removed mouse nest lol, all tires inflated to proper pressure, one was low low. Sonim excited to see what happends when I fill up next week.

Sweet a reply! I'll know for next time. Getting used to the forum still. I'm on a well organized diesel truck forum as well, but it's more based on clean diesel performance. Economical power per say not dirty black smoke diesels.

I LOVE the fact that you are into clean diesel performance. The smoke out diesels are getting old... Ignorance made me love it at a time though.

I remember reading that you were looking at building an air dam for your Olds. Check out page 5 of my build thread, first link in my signature. Mine is a wierd one, but it works great for keeping the majority of air frim hitting the front tires. And tires produce a lot of drag!

Yeah some people like smoke. I get annoyed if my tuning is off making it puff a bunch of smoke. I'll Def check out ur air damn, I think I'm gonna whip up some side skirts as well.

Just filled up, 31.7 mpg 3.5 mpg improvement and I'm a amateur!

It helps my commute is 95% highway, it would be cool to hit 33 to 35. I don't know how much of an effect the aero mods help. I think the car is pretty good already other then the massive wheel well gaps. Small grill holes, but big bumper hole. The wipers resess under the cowl, power antenna. I'm very suprised with how big it is it could pull that mileage. Should be getting my lawn edging tuesday.
