I'll go ahead and recite a few bits from when I attempted to inform this guy about, lets just say physics.
All of these took place over a day while I was installing something or another on my buddies car.
Began with him trying to talk me in to going in to business with him.
He claimed to have owned a "high end" auto body shop in town (that I had never heard of" that he closed down for some not plausible reason.
Me:" That's all fine and dandy as a money making proposition, but you do know that it doesn't work, right?"
Him: "Bull****! I can't believe all of these people who say that it doesn't work, it does! I know at least 10 people that are getting 50+ out of full size trucks." and threw in a few bits about government/ corporate conspiracies.
Me: Have you ever thought about another fuel saving mod, like a grill block?"
Him:" That's dumb, for engines to be efficient they need as much air as they can get."
Me:" Just enough to stay cool and run"
him: "Totally not true, and if it was it would be better to let the air flow through rather than block it"
Me: "No, ever seen what NASCAR does up front?"
Showed him aerocivic's web page
Him: " That's dumb why doesn't he just get an HHO generator and drive a truck, he'd get the same milage"
Me: "No"
Him: Well look how dumb he is everybody knows that the important part is the front, he has all of that garbage hanging off the back wasting fuel"
Italked to his room mate a few weeks later, he said that all of his experiments had failed and that he was quitting the business. I guess he decided to change his mind.

He's either incredibly stupid, or implausibly smart...

I'm DreMd and I approve of this message.
I've told him, several times that I sure do wish he was right, but know that he is wrong.

He'd fit right in, in a Marketing Dept. or even management.

I am glad someone keeps a thunderstorm in exact measurements..and then uses it for something.
I can only stay as crazy as the inventor and believe it is real.
it is hilarious.
it is not like there is an internal combustion generator flying through the clouds with a big big magneto to mimick gods lightning...unless your an airplane....woops. planes are safe.
this mr.eaton physicist must be genius...

Just need to think "outside the box" is all.
Speaking of which, where did Mr. Outside The Box go anyway???
Oh... probably the same guy.

Re: Marketing department comment
Frank - he's an engineer, through and through. I'm sure he did the math on paper, overlooking some insignificant detail so that it would "work"... but in the real world, those seemingly insignificant details are usually the world's weight, so to speak. It never works out.
Speaking of lightning... how hard would it be to capture the electrical energy of a lightning bolt? Why hasn't anyone been openly looking into this for our "green energy sources" of the future? I'm sure it's not easy, but I can't imagine its' difficult... we can direct where lightning strikes, to some extent, so why can't we capture the energy?

He's in a lucrative business. A quarter century or so ago, the B.C. government gave Frank Hertel four million bucks for his vision of drawing hot water from deep wells under deserts, and then using the heat directly to run the pumps and provide cold water. Why B.C.was so worried about thirsty nomads was not explained, but it made a nice distraction. Frank put a shipyard out of business, and built a small office block before skipping town with the rest of the money.

Even in the best locations, lightning input is very spiky. You need huge conductors that are idle most of the time. The new super capacitors might be able to store the charge, though, and be located near a stormy mountaintop. Let's see if somebody can make it pay 'way off grid.
