I needed to go to Prescott AZ again for school, this time I planned my drive a little differently so as to avoid the interstate section of the Las Vegas area. I think I lost some FE on a previous trip when I was forced to drive 65MPH to stay with the flow of traffic. I left Burley Idaho Friday 11/15/13 at 4:30pm and drove to Twin Falls ID, then Ely NV, then St. George UT, then Flagstaff AZ, then Prescott AZ. I hopped to do it on one tank spending $35, taking about 22 hours driving 40 MPH to cover the 880 miles to get there.

I ran out of gas in Flagstaff at 2:30pm the next day.
I think the wind storm those last 2 hours are what killed me from breaking my record.
It only took me 21 hours and 45 minutes to travel that 801 miles on 10.3 gallons.
Mapquest says it should have been 13 hours 50 minutes and its really 796 miles.
Not too bad as far as odometer reporting correctly.

I've just recorded a new personal best of 46.08 mpg in Baa.

There are lots of different factors in play to get that figure - now I have to try to maintain it.

I had my best tank so far in Ron Burgundy on my last fill up, 78.26 mpg ! This tank was my regular commute, with the usual carpooling with my wife. My lifetime fuel cost is right at 3 cents per mile

I'm starting back with full tanks as of this current tank, I'll go over 700 miles on my next fuel log update.

40.3 MPG
Rented 2015 Nissan Versa Note/hatch for past two weeks.
Started w/35.2 MPG(previous renter) and raised to 40.3 MPG after 1,117 miles and some A/C use.
Many/most mileage was on highway 58-63 MPH but when possible, I'd drop to 53ish, Versa has CVT and is hatchback (NO MODS-regular tire PSI)
Feels good, +/- 12%+ and 20+% from EPA #'s

1195 miles @ 21.311 gallons @ $1.449 for the last 27 days. 56.07mpg, #12 in the current gas cars (no hybrid) list in the newest car on that list.

I think the tanker that was there when I refilled had summer blend (pure luck). The price jumped twice with the last jump from $1.38 to $1.44. On two outings in the last two days, 66.7 (low average speed) and 63.2 (higher average speed).

regards

62.5MPG on my last tank in Canfly!! :D

My little air dam has paid off I got 3.7L/100km on my last 500+km's

Getting to know my route better and leaving extra early so I can drive a little slower has really helped. I can shut the car off sooner for downhills and stops, now that I know when their coming. So far all i've done is replace the alternator, because it died, installed new sparkplugs(copper) removed the excess interior, and installed an air dam. I posted about my simple air dam here. I only yesterday found the time to take the mirrors off. and I still have a heavy trailer hitch attached to it! Lots of room for improvement. Oh I almost forgot its misfiring because the distributor cap is worn. I can't wait to see how it does when it's running right.

Just got back from putting 507 miles on a tank in a Town and Country minivan. 27.4 mpg. Still had over a gallon left. That was Seattle to Missoula, MT so 3400 ft elevation gain, 4 winding mountain passes,5 passengers, and 70-80 mph almost the whole way, actually averaged 67mph counting some stop and go on the 405 leaving Seattle.

About the 405, what's the deal with no carpool lanes anymore? Instead they let rich people buy their way through traffic with a $7 toll lane? That is embarrassing Seattle, at least still reward the carpoolers with a free ride in those lanes. I also followed a Tesla model S on a flatbed being towed by a f150 ecoboost truck with "Tesla service" on the side. I thought that was ironic as the guy had to have the thing floored going up the pass at 65-70mph. Followed him all the way to the Yakima turnoff. Bet he was getting 3-8 mpg just glowing that turbo the whole way. So now how long does that Tesla owner have to run that car to offset all the wasted fuel towing in back and forth to Seattle?
