Maybe you could fake your own death and move to a cabin in Montana?

AFAIK it is. A local TV station in my hometown used to stream El Chavo del Ocho and El Chapulín Colorado from DVDs for a short while, even though the only TV network which had the streaming rights for those shows was SBT.

I suspect he meant streaming as a reciever when the physical media is in a different location.

It should be. It could be considered soft-core piracy as opposed to hard-core piracy.

It's legal to view a film via any means if you own the license to that film. It's legal to backup a movie to which you own a license for, and it's legal to view the movie from backup.

I'm not even willing to try a Chromebook.

$400 for a Chromebook sounds too expensive to me. As I said in your other laptop thread, I bought a latest gen i5 14" laptop for $280.

The excellent ThinkPad X1 Nano is going for $600.

As far as I can tell, anyone spending $1k plus on a laptop is gaming or wasting their money.

I started getting "No signal" on my screen, so I bought a $30 new card off Amazon and it is slower than the one that came with my computer 8 years ago, but it works!

I received a partial refund for the refurbished video card I bought off eBay, which was much faster than stock, but stock still worked!

I felt aggravated attempting to troubleshoot and went to Costco to buy an ASUS ROG desktop they showed.

I looked at another warehouse and their site didn't show that computer there, but apparently they don't stock that in any store.

Their site showed 9 desktops, but only two were in-stock, and neither was worth buying.

With my partial refund, I have over $80 more than I did a week ago, but I would have rather had the time.

Nowadays laptops tend to outsell desktops for a considerable margin. Nowadays I mostly see modern desktops at corporative environments.
