Maybe it really drives on a rail, like the amusement park cars. I get that they are only using it for advertising (not like one could reliably go anywhere in an Uplander), and it is a very low traffic area, but it's the principle.

How about trying to talk to some of these people to see why they park the way they do?
Today I parked like that as I parked next to a ford f350 that seem to have a 3ft lift kit installed and monster tires that stuck out 2 ft on both sides of the vehicle. As I walked away I notice I had parked like that, but from inside the car it felt I was close enough to hit him with my door.

I'm blind. I do the best I can and don't worry much past that. Still, a blind man trying to park well does better than most drivers. Of course, a trained monkey can do better than most drivers.

In the humans' defense, at least a trained monkey has received training. My driver's end couldn't be called that.

I'm willing to bet (especially with the Ohio examples) that the drivers were talking on their MF-ing cellphones while they were parking. BTW - saw some monstrosity of a late model Ford truck, complete with spiffy huge rims and a lift kit, parked right on the line, at a local movie theatre parking lot. I guess the driver needed all that room on the driver's side to get out.

Had I been shopping at the same time as the D-bag in the Chevy minivan, the pic would have included my Festiva, which would have been 2 inches off his driver door with the side view mirror carefully folded in.

Kind of like me and the Pontiac? My only regret is how far away I was...there was a solid three or more inches.
That Uplander was a display car. It may be driven, but probably not until the employee leaves and drives it away, if so. I was not driving on for those two images, so I didn't do any parking.
