Thats the look what i am going to shoot with my commercial hubcaps to cars. I cannot think nothin else than glue. otherwise they are very tricky to install. Second possibility is that behind the cover are glued some brackets. After that you can attach that plate inside the wheel with regular zipties. That the difficult part, but possible.

That is some factory prototype so I believe those are only ment tho hide the new design of the wheels :/. Not for serie production or model.

But if you leave little gap between rim and hubcap, brakes can have enough cooling air.

Zipties are painful to put on because I have to reach behind the wheel to attach them. The worked fine and were very durable and light, but I don't think they would meet aesthetic criterion (at least not my implementation).

I thought they look more like cymbals to me...

...as I vaguely recall, they were used on old cars that had front axle "hubs" that protruded w-a-y out past the centerline of the wheel.
